in Gone off!
Not too long ago I bought a lemon, thyme and garlic chicken crown which was marked at £4 It was really nice so I later bought another one, still £4
Next time I went to buy one it was marked £5 so I thought a £1 jump was a bit much so left it. On another shopping trip I looked at them again and they were £4 but there didn't appear to be anything that said this was a special offer. On my last shopping trip they were £5 again. This was on a Friday or Saturday so I can only guess they bump up the price at weekends. A bit naughty if this is the case. Can anyone shed any light on this

Although the shelf-talker doesn't always make a declaration, I've noticed they do this with certain "luxury" products to claim a discount vs a previous price - standard practice amongst supermakets.
Its worth keeping an eye on MySupermarket.com as it shows price trends on any given product.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

Thanks for the reply. I am guessing you work in retail by your use of terms such as shelf-talker. I'm just a shopper with an eye on the best prices so these terms are not familiar to me but I made an educated guess0 -
Sainsburys offers last three weeks.
So this chicken could be on £4 on alternative offer cycles.
My friends who work for them and they never increase the price on weekendsThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

The standard ticket with the price is an SEL - Shelf Edge Label.
And they don't just raise prices at the weekend then lower them on a Monday. Not in my 16 years of retail experience.0 -

Or they cut the price on weekdays. A bit generous if this is the case.0 -
An item has to be on sale for 28 days before they can claim it is on offer at a reduced price, this is why most shops change their offers and promotions every 4 weeks. Very often this means popular products will be on the same offer every other month.#141 - Save £3k in 2016 challenge - #141
