Can your pay cut off date be changed without warning?

Hello, forum virgin be patient with me!
My son started work for a national company roughly the start of November, at his induction he was given a sheet with wage cut off dates each month as they vary, and it was explained that any work done/training sessions/ mettings attended would be paid from his start date up until 10am 13th Nov. So he put his name down for several shifts up to the 12th to get as much as he could for November pay day. This amounted to 22 hours at 5.30ph and was looking forward to just over £100 landing in his account, anyway pay day arrives, £19 was all he had. I got him to phone his manager and go through shifts etc as he has financial commitments etc i said he could request a cheque if they werent prepared to correct and put wages owing into his bank this month, his manager told him he would get all wages next month as cut off date (that was printed frin last april to next and all employees have been given it) was wrong on sheet which left him being paid only for the induction (1st shift) can anyone confirm what i think which is its just a load of BS or can they just magically change cut off date and leave employees short? Can anything be done?
thanks for any help!

If the sheet is wrong they have not changed the dates just given him the wrong dates?

How far does he/you want to push it baring in mind he was been there less than a month? His line manager does not know him properly. If he starts upsetting the apple cart he might be making himself a target.

The sheet could be wrong if its a large company its unlikely they are trying to pull a fast one and will correct itself out. Its just the first month thats going to be a problem.
