Black Friday stonkers vs clangers!

  • Bought a 49" TV from Tesco, £199. Also bought Phillips air fryer, £49.

I used my Clubcard vouchers and boosted them - great value when you can use the boosted vouchers on something already on offer.

Incidentally, I've been looking for a larger TV for a few months, but kept putting off buying. I've also been thinking about getting the air fryer for about a month (I've only been this slow weighing up my decisions since joining MSE :p), so both were carefully thought out decisions, not impulse buys.

Ebuyer were advertising Western Digital 1TB hard drives for £39.99 - claiming cheaper than Dabs, and free delivery.

When I log on to eBuyer this morning, there was no free delivery (only for orders above £50 I think). Dabs were selling it for exactly the same price *with* free delivery.

ASOS increased their prices on thursday and the 20% off the new price would make the two things I bought on wednesday cost £3 more each after discount. Not exactly a sale imo!
Thank you to everyone who posts on the competitions boards. You all rock!

    Mixed results on Amazon.

Derwent 60 Coloursoft Pencils £40 insted of £75. I have never seen them this low, almost impossible to get much below £60.

Similar deals on Faber Castell Aquarelle and Faber-Castell Polychromos.

I also wanted Faber Castell 120 Albrecht Coloured pencils. Reduced from £175 to £125. An internet search found them cheaper elsewhere without a Black Friday Deal.

Probably good that the deal was poor becuase buying 60 coloured pencils is probably more than enough. Certainly enough to make my Christmas cards for the next few years

Basic Sky TV package. Black Friday deal - £20 per month with £100 Amazon voucher = £140
Said I wanted a better deal. They then offered the standard deal: 50% off with £25 Tesco voucher = £95.

    £45 cheaper!
  • The new NowTV boxes with 6 months entertainment/ 4 months movies for £20 that a lot of shops seem to have are pretty great.
And you can't argue with a £35 Fire tablet, they're already cheap at £50 though personally I had to sit on my hands for that one- too many tablets in this house.

I missed out on amazon lightning deal of lego friends cruise ship that was less than half price, but awesome for those who did get it.

Other than that it's all been a bit meh for me.

I noticed this morning that Mountain Warehouse had 50% off everything today, I was planning on looking there for a Christmas pressie next week when i go Christmas shopping. so i went in my lunch time and got the item 1/2 price - don't normally get involved in these black friday sales usually, but as they had something i would have bought any way i went in. I won't say what I got as the gift is for someone who could look over my shoulder at any time.

  • i find amazon rubbish for gifts under £10 now, better off on ebay with free postage. tried to order £20 worth but because gift were from different shops there was more postage.

did spot one good lightening deal for crafers and that was a cuttlebug for £39 - this are £60 and thus a good deal. You pay this for a second hand one.
Food and Smellies Shop target £50 pw - managed average of £49 per week in 2013 down to £38.90 per week in 2016

I don't normally buy anything when it comes to Black Friday.

But I have got a lovely Yankee Candle House gift set filled with 12 Votives (some new season) for £24.99 with a free Medium Jar Candle plus free delivery.

Also got 1/2 price Greensmoke vaping starter kit with 49% off. Was £84 ish to £42 ish (can't remember the pence bit)

I was really pleased with both of them because I have been wanting to get both for a while especially the candles because I always treat us to some for Christmas. I have tried the cheaper Village candles but they really are not as goon in my opinion.
