Argos are doing a 'graded' ps4 which i guess is going to be one that was sent back to Sony for some reason and has been refurbed - has anyone ever bought one of these and what are their experiences with it?
I am aware there have recently been changes to the chassis etc but is it likely that a graded product would have the new one - if it was returned for a chase problem i guess it may but in advance i don't suppose there is any way of finding out.
Either way it is not a deal breaker, i don't do a huge amount of gaming and most bundles seem to have games i am not really interested in and wouldn't want the hassle of traipsing down to CEX or whatever to trade a game in, plus, with 10% cash back on my nationwide card i would get the ps4 for effectively £179 which seems decent to me!
Any and all advice appreciated!

Graded is factory refurbished - case in point, Little Johnny got a PS4 for Christmas last year, just prior to Easter, Little Johnny's controller became erratic. Little Johnny took the console back to the retailer, the retailer exchanged the console & sent Little Johnny back on his merry way. The retailer then informs the supplier they have a faulty unit to return, supplier then sends it back to Sony. Sony then repair any faults (in this case replacing the controller), QC the entire unit & Bob's yer uncle they have a complete functioning unit. They can't legally sell it in the UK as a new console, that'd be morally wrong, but they also really can't take a hit on it - so they sell it as "Graded".
I personally wouldn't have a problem with it, so long as it's backed by a guarantee I'd be happy in the knowledge it was certified by Sony. Problem I'd see (ignoring the Black Friday deals) is that for a second hand PS4 it's expensive - I can walk into Game right now & grab a second hand one for under £200 with a 12 month warranty. Might just be me, but I'd rather spend the £50 on games than on Sony recycling it & giving it a fancy name.
(Sony have been doing these for years though, mostly because most "faulty" units are faulty for simple enough reasons to fix & usually are not "massive" faults. It's kinda like euthanising someone because they have a broken arm in a way, they're not terminal but they're not 100%!)Retired member - fed up with the general tone of the place.0 -
I got one in the end and am very happy with it - the console is faultless to look at with no marks whatsoever, if it had been in a proper 'Sony PS4' box i would never have known it was a refurb - all works great so feel i have got myself a bargain!
