Suggestions for dry and brittle hair

Hi all
I have long hair and although I had my hair cut recently, I have noticed that the ends are quite dry and brittle. There are quite a lot of split ends. I use a standard conditioner but this doesn't seem to do anything. Any suggestions of what products to use?

The Kerastase Resistance range is excellent (as are all their products). It is not cheap but you'll use half as much so pretty good value.0

[1] Extra virgin coconut oil, but not "coconut butter"
This is what I do to keep my hair soft (I have to do this quite often because I straighten my hair all the time)
You will need:
1 - A hair turban (I paid £1 from Primark)
2 - A glass tub of extra virgin coconut oil*** + Spoon
3 - A hairdryer
***Important note - Don't use 'coconut butter' because this is a completely different consistency and will not melt into your hair, and you will end up with crumbs on the floor
Sit opposite a mirror and position and turn on a hairdryer so that it's blowing on your hair (but not so it's blowing directly into your face). Meanwhile, use a spoon to scrape out the cold-pressed coconut oil and put it onto the ends of your hair. The heat from the hairdryer which is blowing on to your hair will help the coconut oil to melt into your hair. (I go overboard and put coconut oil all over my hair, even on my fringe, etc.) Use a hairband to tie your hair into a ponytail and then put on your hair turban, so that it covers all of your hair. If you can, leave this on your hair overnight. Then wash it out in the shower.
As a sidenote - If you put on a lot of coconut oil, then please be careful when the hairdryer is on because the airflow might cause coconut oil to get splattered onto the wall (and if your wall has a matt paint, it will be almost impossible to get the oil stain from off the wall).
[2] Look out for "Panthenol"
Also, whenever I buy conditioner, I look in the ingredients list to see whether the ingredient "panthenol" appears near the top of the list. Panthenol makes your hair soft. (Ingredients which appear near the beginning of the list mean that they are in greater abundance, so I always choose conditioners with panthenol in.)
I use this: http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=268421016
I hope this helps you!:EasterBun0 -
intensive hair treatment/mask or change conditioner.
hair changes through the seasons just like your skin can.
or maybe due to the new length you need a total haircare revamp.0 -

You have the same problem as my wife used to have. She used Aloe Vera everyday on her Hair and left it on for 2 hours and then rinsed it out. Also, do not use shampoo everyday as it will leave your hair really dry. She used it for almost 4 months and the results are "Goodbye Hair Split Ends and Dry Hair"0 -
Olive oil over your hair add a shower cap on top then a warm towel over the top of that. Leave for a while - maybe half and hour then shampoo it out.0

My hair is very thick, and can get dry. I recommend Tresemme. It's one of the best conditioners I've used.New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!

I second the coconut oil, but it doesn't need to be extra virgin, and you only need to rub a small amount through the ends to stop it looking dry.left the forum due to trolling/other nonsense
