Can I claim additional tax-free income allowance?

My wife and I are both retired. I am 68 and she is 66.
My wife receives only the basic State Pension of £115.95 per week.
I have both a State Pension and a Private one, that produce a total income for myself of £17,401.68 per annum.
My question is - can I claim my wife's unused tax-free allowance (£10,500 less £115.95 x 52 = £4470.60) and add it to my own allowance?
Before retirement we were taxed as single persons.

you cannot use all her unused allowance but she can transfer 10% of her total allowance to you0 -
Also if you have any savings you should check out the best way to max those between you. You should get £1k interest tax free but she will get much more. Her's this year, yours I think from the next tax year. I'm sure someone will be along who can post up the links for you.0

Thank you very much both - sounds like it's worth a shot, doesn't it?0

Your wife can give you £1060 of her allowance (ie 10% of £10600; not £10500 as you mention).
Until April next year, you don't get the tax free £1000 of interest, but your wife can , now, have £5000 of interest, plus an extra £3510.60 (from the unused remaining allowance) tax free.0
