Is it right for my manager to ask to see me for a chat while off sick?

Where I work it's considered very bad management not to keep in touch with members of staff off sick. The contact has to be reasonable so once you've been off a while the contact will be less frequent as its not meant to feel like a pressure but a reassurance that you aren't forgotten. We are expected to visit staff as they approach 40 days off and it can be in their home or somewhere neutral like a coffee shop if they prefer.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!

My manager has called me and said she wants to meet with me on Friday

    How did the meeting go?
    Don’t be a can’t, be a can.

We do the same at my workplace with people who are on maternity leave. A women I work with who left to have a baby about 3 months ago still gets weekly emails updating her on what's going on in the office and in the organisation more generally. I'm not sure whether there's an actual policy requiring this or if it's done more informally.
