Right, I've only been around here forever on and off so, naturally, I have no idea where the right place to post this is!
The best place for your thread is the 'Surveys' board.;) It's just above the 'Quick! Grabbit' board and is a sub board of the 'Referrers' board.

Why wont you ever use facebook? You use this forum and in a way with the bants and the questions that get asked it is similar to facebook, just not with people you know. You could also chat on the regs with old friends and share things with family you dont see very oftenThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. Facebook is what you make it as Joansgirl said. I resisted for ages joining as I wasn't interest in the small chat and games etc that everyone seem to say was the main stay of FB. Yet I've got family abroad and eventually I got persuaded to join to keep in touch with them.
I've found that all the small chat nattering and games are completely optional. I've got a very small circle of friends that I know from elsewhere other than FB. We're just a group of friends that meet on line due to circumstances and distances making meeting in person difficult. Our conversations tend to cover our interests rather than who's had what for diner. Children and work tend to be off the conversation menu as most on my friends list have more interesting topics and come on there to get away from the first two. I'm also a member of a couple of groups that coincide with my hobby interests. Again the talk on those revolves around the hobbies.
FB can be interesting and a useful tool provide you make it work how you like it rather than be sucked into the vacuum of banality and don't fall into the trap of thinking the quantity of friends makes up for the quality. In answer to the OP I have never taken a long term break with the account I have now. I have stomped off a couple of times when I've been a bit miffed about something but have never deactivated or gone longer than 24 hours without logging on
I did have an account before which I deactivated as people from work were putting in friend requests that I didn't want to accept. I don't mix business with pleasure :rotfl: To fix this problem my current FB account is in a different name so no one who knows me in real life can find me, with the exception of my sister and a couple of cousins who wouldn't be shocked by the stuff I share :eek:
And the original one I deactivated now belongs to my dog :rotfl:
And I have a third one that I hardly ever look at for those people who WOULD be shocked at my stuff, like my in-laws

I recently took more or less an 18 month break from my usual social media, but had been involved in a community for an online game during that time. That took up far more of my life than fb or forums ever had, so inadvertently I had swapped one 'hobby' for another.New forum. New sig. Yes I still need to lose 2 stone!0
