I'll be buying a house on Wednesday with all utilities going in my name. My mom may or may not be living with me. She doesn't bother with the electoral roll, doesn't drive and isn't on benefits.

Assuming I marked myself as a single occupant what else might the council be likely to check? I guess they wouldn't be able to find out from phone contract etc but they probably could from the doctors/dentists right?

I don't think you're going to get much help in breaking the law on here.

Thankfully your local authority will have access to data matching services to verify who is living there.

They'd turn up and check the wardrobes/bedrooms.... it's easy to see if one person lives alone, or not. Easy.

You might also want to tell your mother she is breaking the law - its a legal requirement to be on the electoral roll..
