PGCE in the Lifelong Learning Sector

Hi there

I was wondering if anyone had any advice please? I completed a PGCE in the Lifelong learning sector in 2011. From there, I never gained a full time position in a college, I worked as a supply teacher for 2 years in secondary schools. Because of this I have never had the opportunity to gain the QTLS part of the qualification, which I believe would now restrict me to just working in colleges. Following my 2 years of supply teaching, my husband was posted to Scotland which meant I could not teach because they have different qualifications up here. I am currently working as a Supervisor in a leisure centre feeling a bit like I am just plodding along. My husband is thinking of leaving his job and relocating closer to where we are both from which is the north east of England.

So now I am wondering what I can do with my qualifications BA hons in Sports Studies and Physical Education and my PGCE I mentioned above. I know I should be teaching but it's just not that easy I am not a confident person in interviews and feel I always let myself down. Also what else could I do with these qualifications? If anyone knows a way of still getting the QTLS or of teaching without it advice would be greatly appreciated.

sorry it's long and thank you for taking time to read my post

For QTLS you'd have you do Professional Formation which is what I think you are missing?

    The Scottish equivalent is TQFE.

The only advice I can offer is for you to contact s which offers TQFE and ask if they have a transfer system for your qualification?
Currently, the TQFE is delivered by three Teacher Education Institutes ( TEIs): the University of Aberdeen, University of Dundee and University of Stirling.

Their programmes are delivered at undergraduate ( SCQF Level 9) and / or at postgraduate ( SCQF Level 11) level. All programmes are delivered to candidates who are already college lecturers, although Stirling additionally offers a 'pre-service' TQFE programme for full-time students, which includes teaching placements.
