Duff advice from removal firm, now they're fully booked...

I got a few quotes nearly two months ago for removals. We chose Bishop's Move (the other two seemed fairly awful) and I emailed them asking if I should preliminarily book our likely completion date. The reply came:
"Thanks for letting me know, I suggest you wait until you have a date, otherwise you may be charged a cancellation fee. Ring the office when you have a date."
We exchanged today, I called to give them the date and they're fully booked. Turns out I should've returned the quote acceptance regardless in order to lay some sort of stake on the date.
So... what do I do now? Have I screwed it? We're due to complete on the 14th December. Does this mean I now need to make a panicked ring-round and take whatever dregs are still available?

Not sure how to delete a thread. Turns out it's all booked after all so this thread is no longer needed.
Mods - please delete.0 -
I suggest you hire a van yourself to do the removals, since your clearly have such a low opinion of those who do this professionally for a living.
Good luck with figuring out how to load the van correctly so you don't damage anything in transit."Real knowledge is to know the extent of one's ignorance" - Confucius0 -
You cant delete a thread and the mods wont bother, just leave it and it will disappear naturally, along with you if we are luckymake the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

I think you missed my update - it's all booked fine, so no need for me to do any loading.0 -
3 weeks isn't in any shape or form in the land of a panicked ring-round, nor taking the dregs.Have I screwed it? We're due to complete on the 14th December. Does this mean I now need to make a panicked ring-round and take whatever dregs are still available?
Now you have a date, phone round for quotes and make a booking.
Then, sit back and repeat the mantra: "No need to make a mountain out of a molehill".
You're moving house ..... that's all.
THREE weeks' notice ..... more than most people have.
Blimey .....0 -

That's incredible.. So when you rang them at 5.05pm, it wasn't booked, but then by 5.49pm it was?
Even though they said they were fully booked for that date. And you didn't book them?
How could it have 'been booked after all,' when they had no clue of when you were exchanging or moving? And you didn't book them?
Your first post said that you never gave them a date. So how can it be booked?(•_•)

Turned out I was put through to the wrong branch. No-one in my local branch answered so it got piped-through to some other branch, and it was them who were fully booked. I got off the phone, emailed the guy I'd originally been dealing with and he rang me back.
Quite simple, really.0
