Ssas

Hi
I'm thinking of setting up a SSAS so that I can get control of my pension pot and make it work a bit harder. Has anyone done this & have any tips on pitfalls to avoid or top points to consider? Any recommendations for Scheme Administrators?
thanks

Do you mean SSAS? This is a scheme for very small companies to set up an employer's pension scheme for their staff. If it's just for you perhaps you were thinking of a SIPP?

Why do you think your pension needs to or can work harder? What type of pension is it? What is it invested in?

    Harder in what way?

You havent mentioned the assets. So, its hard to give any comment until you do.

Has someone cold called you and advised you to set up a SSAS?

These are the new preferred wrappers of choice for unregulated 'advisers' wanting to flog unregulated investments to unsuspecting people.

Same train of thought. Hence my statement on the assets. I am half expecting Cape Verde property to be the answer and we all know what that means.
