Walsall CAB faces closure

I stumbled across this. One of many I fear facing closure due to cuts in council funding.

We recognise that Walsall Council is facing difficult decisions in an era of continued austerity but cutting funding to Walsall CAB by £100,000 in 2016-2017 and withdrawing funding altogether in 2017-2018 is the wrong decision for the town and its residents.

Its a sad state of affairs when central government cuts funding for things such as this, back in 2005, local CAB was my first port of call, they were rushed off there feet, they got us on a reduced payment plan, then basically said, there you go, get on with it, as they could not cope with the amount of people needing there help.


I fear this will drive people to use fee paying companies who advertise relentlessly, there so called "services", most don't realise there are organisations such as stepchange and payplan, and the only winners will be the shareholders making profit from more misery.
