Your tips to keep the house warm

I think the least likely considered item that can make a massive difference to the heat in your property is the use of a dehumidifier.
I work for the council and we often get calls from tenants complaining of mould in bathrooms and rooms when really ventilation is bad so we tend to recommend dehumidifiers. They can be costly but the Argos basic one is £79.99 and is excellent (I've had one for 4 years.)
What was happening in my house is that as soon as the heating went off - the room went cold within 10 mins. This happens because water is in the atmosphere and absorbing the heat. When you remove the water the room stays warmer for ages longer and drops slowly - the plus side is that it minimises the growth of mould which is great for asthmatics.
I wouldn't be without one. I know this thread is about keeping warm - but it's important to consider that if your having problems heating a room and keeping it warm - it could be the water in the atmosphere.0 -
