Work Program

Hi,
I need some advice, I was out of work for just over 2 years and was claiming job seekers allowance and I was told I was joining the work program which I was fine about.
So my appointment was last Wednesday and I had an job interview the day before. So I did the interview and went to the work program on the Wednesday and did what I had to do.
On the Thursday I was told I had got the job and started Monday. So rang the DWP and let the know I was in work.
I was told by a friend that the work program will want my work details so they can contact my them to confirm everything and they can get money for getting me into work.
Does anyone know if that is true?

Completely true. You found the job yourself with no help from them though so do not tell them anything.
They shouldn't be getting money from jobs they didn't find, especially ones found before you even went there. You do not have to tell them anything and it's best you don't as they may contact your employer and have been known to bother companies (some people have lost jobs because of it).
So now you've signed off ignore all contact from them.0 -
Now I think the work programme indirectly did get you back into employment. You had been unemployed for two years and soon as you started the work programme you found a job.0

The OP said their interview was the day before the work programme started. Can't see how the work programme can claim any credit at all.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

I had the interview the day before and on the day I actually went in I only filled out some forms so that couldn't of helped me get the job.0 -
She would have been told in advance she was due to start the work programme - in time to arrange an interview.
That's not how it works and clearly not what happened.
Job interview was the day before OP had had anything to do with the work programme. Until you've been to see an advisor at the work programme they can not possibly have helped in any way.
They don't do anything to help on the first meeting anyway (you sign papers) and even after that you're lucky if they do anything to help.
OP would have had the interview and got the job even if they hadn't been starting the work programme.0 -
Tell the work program provider NOTHING.
The work program is a complete farse in my opinion, It basically cost the same as JSA costs, So Tax payers are paying twice for a benefit which is a waste of money...0 -
You will have signed a consent form when you went to the work programme provider, withdraw your consent ASAP or they will hound the life out of you and your new employer if they find out who this is from the Jobcentre.0

OP, would you have gone for that interview if you had not been about to start the programme?
Or had you been for loads of interviews and it was just coincidence you were successful in this one which happened to be just before the programme started?
Or maybe you had been doing nothing for 2 years then found your mojo and did several things at the same time including interview(s) and the work programme?0
