What would you take this term to mean?

We visited a local electrical store to look at an appliance.

Looks just the job but we can get it for 10% less (with exactly the same delivery, warranty etc) from an internet/national chain.

We're keen to support the local business so before we visited the store we had already discussed that if we got 5% off we'd be happy.

When we did visit the store and ask if they could get near the competitors price.

The local store wouldn't budge and wouldn't even answer what the 'Best price guaranteed' term mean that's plastered all over their full page local rag advertisement each week (with no small print to enlighten the reader what they mean).

We've now ordered at the cheaper place but just wondered what other peoples thoughts were.
