Identity fraud

Hi there,

Sorry if this isn't in keeping with forum etiquette, I just started a thread about Wescot Debt collectors on another page but this question is semi-related but mostly different.

I've just logged into my Equifax account and I can see that several phone companies have popped up in my alerts (I must admit I've not logged in for a little while). I've not taken out a phone contract with any of the companies on my Equifax page.

I'm going to call Equifax first thing in the morning, but was wondering if anyone has experienced this and what I should do as the next step?

Is this a common occurrence, it seems very odd!

Any help much appreciated. Thank you for reading this.

    Hi,

If not your debt, then dispute it, you are not able to call the CRA you have to dispute the debt from there website, and that's what you should do.
Click on the entry, and dispute the info they are showing.

We had a nightmare here with fraud through V o d afo ne. Both our sons and I had our accounts hacked and used to order new phones and tablets. One morning I received a text saying "thank you for updating your address" - I was straight on the phone. Report it to Action Fraud as well as the CRA's.
