Think I'm going to be dismissed

I'm pretty sure I've done something stupid at work.
I'm suffering from depression and have had medication from doctor.
I'm going to be dismissed for it.
Need another job asap. Help.
Will lose everything. Have tried to concentrate. Tempted to phone sister with a spare room and run away from it all.
Or just end it all. Feel like a useless idiot who can't do anything right.

  • You need to take a step back for a moment. You're going through a tough time and depression isn't easy to deal with, but you're getting help for it and that's the first step.

You're jumping to conclusions and panicking about things that haven't even happened yet. Easy done, but try to calm down. It may not be anywhere near as bad as you think.

Phone your sister. Not about the spare room and to run away, but for support. Explain the situation and how you feel. Talk about it and hopefully you'll feel better.
  • I did something that could've been dangerous. I have spoken to someone at work who said they would move me to another department.
I am anxious and they know this. My boss says she can't trust me with anything. She has been bullying me and won't leave me alone. Her constant criticism has been wearing me down for weeks.

It's not clear from your post if work know about the mistake but if not I woul strongly advise you tell them before they find out as it would be in your favour.

Depending on what happened and your previous record at work dismissal is only one option and may not be what happens.

Hope it all works out for you and you soon start to feel better
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Consider calling the Samaritans who are there for anyone going through a crisis and who can offer a non-judgemental and sympathetic ear, perhaps more direct support than you get from a forum.

If you move departments will she still be your boss? Or will you be under someone else then?

You need to speak with them properly and discuss exactly what happened and what will happen next.

It sounds as though they'll try and help you and not that they're going to dismiss you.

If it was down to the depression that this happened you need to look at doing what you can to get better. Is the medication helping? Do you feel you need to do more? If it's not or you think you need to do more, make an appointment with your doctor asap.
  • They are under the impression I didn't try to find someone.
I did look, but no one was about. Then my boss came along, noticed the fault and started ranting at me.
She doesn't believe anything I say so its pointless to argue.
How do you deal with someone like this? I was going to look for her again. I went back to my work because I'd get told off if I didn't complete it

Whilst I am extremely sympathetic towards you with depression (and possible suicidal thoughts) I just want to make it clear that if you've done something dangerous at work then you've endangered other people with your behavior. Those colleagues do not deserve to be put into that sort of situation. If it amounts to GROSS MISCONDUCT Then sadly you have to go.

From the sounds of it, work are making adjustments to KEEP YOU (unless they haven't found out about the dangerous thing yet in which case I will not comment further). So it doesn't sound as bad as you are making it out to be, probably just really bumming you out and getting anxious/over thinking it all (in relation to the dangerous thing).

Also, you'd probably be best speaking to your sister for some immediate support and then speaking to your GP/doctor to see if there is anything else which can help.

You can also potentially sit down and try to figure out, with support, why you did this behavior and how you can limit it in the future. Any triggers such as stress/anxiety? etc.

Also, is your diet/exercise/lifestyle any good? Would it help to get more healthy and start combating depression in a more natural way? Not knowing you I don't know if that advice helps, but we can all feel a bit better with lifestyle changes!
  • Have you admitted to making a mistake?

How do you think people learn? Half my folder in a non regulated industry is here is what I done wrong last time! I learn not to do it again like that

Don't worry I got a telling of today, because I didn't put empty boxes in bin, after doing the stationary request by the someone with OCD. But they will say I answer the phone in a calm manner to a majority of people who swear and are angry. I look forward to the payslip or P45 whichever comes first! the world is your oyster my friend, this is trival to worry over x
  • I am extremely stressed and have been doing different work. The stress is not getting any less because my boss is bullying me. I put myself in danger.
The problem will be checked on Monday.

OP have you spoken to HR or requested to see someone from occupational health?
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun
