Lotto Social keep emailing me, offering 20 free euromillions then £5 a week for 40 lines after. Is this a scam, or do people actually win money from this? What's the chance of of at least breaking even? They sell it as being better odds then buying lotto tickets individually.

Thanks

Well it is Lotto so it will be based on luck, wont it? They send you a promo. You either take it or leave it. Nothing to suggest you will win something.
    ally.
  • From Aldi to Harrods uses Lotto Social - she does her research so I'd say it was pretty sound :D

The chances of winning from a syndicate are a lot higher as there are more lines being played...simple statistics tell you that if you play 1 line you are 10 times less likely to win than if you were playing 10 or 100 times less likely if there are 100 lines. You just split the prize between everyone who has chipped in.

Nobody can tell you that you will at least break even because at the end of the day it's all about the luck of the draw. :)

If any of your stake money is used for anything except tickets you are better off just buying your own tickets or being part of a works/pub syndicate etc where all the money is spent on tickets.

The problem with every online syndicate I have seen is they take up to 90p in every £1 for themselves/promotions/affiliate marketing.

According to the puff piece the Lotto social "normal" price is £5 for a share of 20 Euromillions tickets so from their syndicates of 49 they take in £245 and the syndicate gets £40 worth of tickets.
To put it another way your £5 should get you a share in 122 tickets.
    Or
Find 7 people who want to chuck in £5 each, get 20 tickets and for the same odds of winning the individual shares of any payout would be SIX times bigger.
