There is normally a reason shoes or slippers (or even socks) smell bad, either it's part of the rubber or fabric itself or it's a bacteria in the shoe or slipper (or whatever) which has grown out of control and wont shift easily.
To get rid of most bacteria it's normally fine to wash above 40 degrees which should kill whatever it is which is growing BUT be careful when drying that you don't leave the footware in a place where it could become infected again; if the slippers are completely fabric and not plastic, you could try putting them in a tumble dryer which is do-able because I manage to wash and dry my slippers (Primark or M&S) without any problems on a 40 degree wash and tumble dried afterwards.
If you get a new pair of slippers, make very sure the bacteria has not transferred to your feet- it may not be so obvious to detect by nose, you'd need to wash your feet properly before wearing them or risk having wasted your money on slippers which will also smell bad in a matter of hours.0 -
My BHS slippers often go into the washing machine and come out looking good. I have a pair of mules and a pair of fur fabric ballerina pumps.0

I have a couple of pairs of slippers from Tesco. They are regularly popped into the washing machine and come out fine.0

Buy slippers made of wool or sheepskin. If you use man-made fibres such as acrylic or polyester then they will smell.0

Sheepskin slippers - no socks/tights. I bought a pair from Redfoot online a few weeks ago - brilliant.
The last pair of slippers I had were sheepskin and I have worn them continuously for five years with absolutely no smell and have only thrown them out because the inner sole wore through. Worth every penny although those weren't Redfoot.0
