£150 Switching bonus in Bankruptcy?

Can a Bankrupt keep the £150 or does the OR need to be informed?
Thanks

The OR needs to be informed, and will probably take it.
  • Surprised you could get it as a BR even if discharged, surely you need to wait the full 6yrs before anyone will let you have an account they are willing to pay you £150 to change

    That's not the case.

    Hi alltaken

If you have not yet been discharged from your bankruptcy then yes, you should inform the Official Receiver.

It's an unusual scenario to consider, as the sort of accounts offering such incentives would invariably involve a credit check.

Yorkshire bank readycash. The basic account offers £150 when you switch.

I'm glad to inform you more, the basic account is open to Undischarged bankrupts and the £150 is obtainable. My question regarding the OR is still open, spoke to them today and they're not sure on if it's something they'll be interested in. I'll know soon either way.

Actually alltaken, you could be lucky as it may cost the OR more that £150 in admin costs to collect and distribute the money - in which case, they will probably tell you to keep it.

Hope so, no bother otherwise but it's free money from a bank, bankrupt or not. I recently had a refund of an old telecoms account in credit totalling £190, OR allowed me to keep it.
