PPI Refund After Trustee Discharged

I'm new to the forum and looking to see if anyone has experienced the same as myself.
In short, I went into Bankrupty 4 and a half years ago after discussing with CAB. I only had one creditor, the Bank, who I had over 20 years impeccable history with until I hit a bad spot. They did not want to help.
6 months after Bankruptcy my Trustee recovered over £13000 PPI from The Bank. This was kept by the Trustee and distributed among my Creditors (so The Bank paid it out to me to give them it back and of course a good amount was taken in fees)
4 years on, earlier this year, after fines were issued to those not complying with the PPI properly, The Bank phoned me out the blue and said they had been "told to review my situation". A further amount was refunded of over £2000. As I was well discharged by this time, my Trustee advised they had no interest and I got the repayment.
Now, over 4 and half years later, The Bank have miraculously recovered over £7000. My Trustee is now considering re-opening my case and are sitting with the money. I am sick to think that this almost ruined me, the embarrassment and worry, when I owed just over £17K to a bank (including all interest and charges) who actually owed me over £22K !!
I have taken my complaint to the Ombudsman and await feedback. How could they be allowed to sit on this all this time?? if it had been disclosed at the time, I would not need to have gone through what I did. Now I'm losing sleep again thinking something else is going to happen to me while this is with the Trustee.

    Hi,

I'm surprised that they let you keep the £2k, as that belonged to the trustee also - being discharged did not make any difference.
As regards from now on - you are not bankrupt, so nothing additional to worry about, no control of any other income or assets you have - just the PPI.

  • Thank you for your response. I'm not concerned about the money, I am just so sick the Banks have been allowed to hide this. It is the fact they actually owed me over £5K more than I owed them to start with. For the same people to disclose it and change their mind 3 times over the ccourse of 4 years is appalling. We wouldn't, and I didn't get any leaway owing them a penny, SK why should they get away with it?
