Hello,
I am hoping someone will be able to help and advise! I am worrying. I work mon-fri and have had to self certify sick all week and the way I feel will need to tomorrow. The only thing making me worry is I have pre booked annual leave on Monday will this put me over the 7 days self certified amount? Do I close the absence on Monday if on annual leave or do that on Tuesday. Will I need a sick note for Tuesday? Really sorry I am asking I never ring in sick and have been poorly this week.
Thank you

If you are still ill on Monday you will need to get a doctors note, if you are better you will take it as annual leave. The only other thing you need to check is whether your company will require a medical note because you have joined annual leave onto sick (some companies ask for a doctors note for this). However the doctor isn't obliged to give a note for the first 7 days, so could make a charge for this - so check with your company first and ensure they will pay for it if they want it.0

Hello have had to check with my manager as worrying . According to him Saturday and Sunday are not counted as sick but I will need a note as I have been off 5 days. This doesn't ring true to me but they are management and maybe their company policy?0

Sick pay works on calendar days not working days. So if you were first ill on Monday this week you can self cert up to and including Sunday. If you were first ill on Saturday then you can self cert up to and including Friday. When you work Monday to Friday it's a little bit academic, as most people just say they their first day of sickness was Monday and last day Friday even if they were ill both weekends. Ordinarily you don't need a note for being off Monday to Friday.0
