Council Tax Query - Glasgow City Council

Options
Hi

I've recently moved out of my house and have notified the Council. I've just received an email saying we are due a refund and in order for us to get that refund we need to give our address from 1993 onwards.

I think this is a tad excessive. We were in our property from 2004 and prior to that I stayed with my parents (between both) and my husband had a property with a previous partner and staying with his parents prior to that.

My question is - should they be able to look for that information when we have stayed at that address for 11.5 years and the over payment relates to this financial year?

Thanks

They will check to see if there is any money owed by you or your husband from a previous address within the council's area before issuing the refund. Not at all unusual.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
