Hi,
Ive just bought new towels.Is there any way of making then more absorbent? The water just seems to slide around.

could be one of two reasons, lewismum.
1 You haven't washed them yet, so they still have any factory 'dressing' on them or
2 You have washed them, but used Fabric Conditioner - really good cotton towels don't take kindly to FC - its better to just rinse well and line or tumble dry.0 -

I find it takes a good half dozen washes before towels do what they are meant to do.
And I second the suggetions to use vinegar in the rinse cycle and never to use fabric softener.Progress not perfection.

When towels are listed on artist riders for live touring, they demand 'prewashed towels' to use on stage specifically because brand new ones are waterproof!0
