Re-paid salary mistake last year causing tax problem

Hi there
I was overpaid 1 month's salary by my old work during the 2013/14 tax year when I moved to my new company. They asked for this to be paid back, which I did.
I've just noticed that I don't have the full tax allowance in my tax code. I called HMRC and they said it's because I was paid twice by my old company and new company in the same month in 13/14, so are saying I hadn't paid enough tax.
So seems that my old work didn't notify HMRC that the overpayment had been repaid to them, and this has caused the issue.
If I send them the overpayment letter I received from the company, and evidence from my bank statement that I paid this money back, will they put my tax code back to the full allowance, and should I also be getting a rebate from them?
