My Planet Solar UK Review

Following having a 4kw Solar PV System installed on 13/11/2015 just in time before the Government Crack Down on the Feed In Tariff, I wanted to share my experience with the company My Planet Ltd Dartford.


When the Sales men arrived he was not pushy or quick to sell, explaining that they only dealt with German Made goods for a quality build and warned me to avoid Chinese or Spanish made goods on the UK Market. The Solar Panels made by Solarworld Germany look the business with the YouTube Video showing cars being parked on them, I knew I was on to a winner.


I wrongly presumed having no knowledge of the Solar System World and rightly presumed that my system was going to be made up of German Made components. The price for 16 x Solarworld 250 Black Panels, Inverter ( Make not mentioned ) with a Solarworld Rack System and GEO Monitor fitted onto either side of East and West facing roof ( 8 x Panels on each ) to follow the new findings of efficiency throughout the whole day after reading an article in the Times from a Solar Expert in Germany, explaining that most Panels are facing the wrong way South was £6400 which included scaffolding on either side of the building, from what I have read sounded a great price. The other thing I requested was Bird Protection from Nesting under the panels.


The day of installation arrived with the scaffolding all erected and in place for installation to commence as planned.


16 x Solarworld 250 Black panels installed eitherside look great, but im looking at the Inverter which has a make called Afore? Not knowing this make and believing them to also be German Made, I Googled the Company, only to find that the heart of my supposed German System was actually Made in China.


After Installation, the system has worked for three hours and now after a day and a half of sunny intervals with patchy cloud has failed to produce any electricity whatsoever and the meter has remained at 1.90 when it stopped working on the 13th.


On looking at the front install of panels I can clearly see that one of the panels is slightly raised, the Bird Protection from nesting has been placed underneath leaving a gap of approximately 40cm eitherside of the front panels for birds to get under and build nests.


Complaint sent off and now awaiting for the Company to get back and finish this job properly.


Luckily I haven't paid yet as the 0% on Purchases Credit Card that I will use to make payment is still in the post to follow the advice of MSE.

Update!


My Planet Dartford contacted me today after receiving my complaint letter and without argument are sending a full installation team out Wednesday to address all my highlighted issues, including changing over the Made in China AFORE Inverter to one made by ABB ( Made in Italy ) which has excellent reviews at no extra charge! Happy for the moment!!

Update! Credit where Credit is due.


Installation Team arrived on time, and replaced the faulty Made in China AFORE Inverter with a Made in Italy ABB Inverter and the system seems to be working perfectly with clear readings showing excellent performance from the East / West formation of Made in Germany SOLARWORLD Panels on the GEO Meter.


All other problems with a Panel standing 'Proud' and Bird Nesting Prevention all addressed.. Very PLEASED with outcome, all the staff were professional, courteous and kept me fully informed.


Payment made using my new 0% on Purchases Credit Card without hesitation, which I recommend as per MSE Advice!


What have I learnt from this?
Don't trust sales people, really check out what is available out there and what your getting?


Make / Model of Inverter!
Make / Model of Solar Panel!


It would appear that SMA Inverter is at the top with ABB and FRONIUS only just behind...
Anything else I would accept with caution.

Shocking company stay away, I paid a 10% deposit, The surveyor turned up 2 days later so we thought all was ok he booked an installation date with us for the following week which no one turned up and no phone call this happen 4 times so we cancelled o contract with them and went with another company, we never received our deposit back after months of chasing them for it.
