Question about change of contract hours
ferry
There are rumblings at work about introducing a new split shift pattern.
My contract states 'normal hours of work 8am-5pm however you will be expected to work the hours necessary to complete your role '.
I feel I already satisfy the second part by doing some additional hours each week.
Does this clever wording actually entitle my company to freely introduce a new shift pattern and do I have to accept any changes in this current agreement -apart from resign.
I fear that any major changes to my normal working pattern will seriously impact my family life, with kids, after school clubs etc..
Thanks for any advice

You don't have to accept any contractual changes.
However if the contract is changing to reflect what the business needs then you may well find yourself out of a job as you aren't now able to fulfil that need.
A contract is a 2 way street -you agree to work for xxx pay and xxx conditions for xxx hours and xxx other stipulations, the employer agrees to pay/reward you for the same, if either party decides the existing contract isn't suitable then they can withdraw from the contract.0
