It's a standard letter. They want to look at your income/expenditure to decide how likely they are to get their money back in a reasonable timescale.

So give them an inc/exp showing £1 per month surplus.

    Hi Gonzo

I can't speak for redux but I think he/she was referring to the debt collector's lack of attention span, not yours!

What exactly is the amount that you've been paying each month under your longstanding payment plan? The smaller it's been, the more appealing a sudden lump sum offer will look to them. I appreciate it might be a bit tedious to have to provide them with an umpteenth version of your income/expenditure, but it'll be worth it if it gets them to accept your proposal.

You are probably dealing with a spotty teenager called usaf, to whom English is a second language, and whose attention span cant last to the second paragraph of your letter.

I lose all interest when I receive correspondence such as this, but as you are after a result here, do what fatbelly suggests, and adjust your budget to show a £1 surplus at month end, and send it back to them by carrier pigeon.

Make sure you write it in large easy to read grammar, as usaf may have friends who are equally deficiant !!!

  • pmsl well that made me giggle my head off sourcrates! you are probably spot on there, i dont think people pay attention anymore, i had a similar thing with Lowell. a girl emailed me saying ''great news i can take off 20% of your debt'' i had to email her back saying ''well yesterday your colleague already emailed me and took off 50%'' , so its not that bloody great is it (i didnt actually write that last bit but i thought it) :)

i think follow the advice from the more experienced members and see how you get on with that, dont forget to let us know as i too will be trying to do this as some stage so id be interested to see how you get on, il keep my fingers crossed for you, good luck :)

    Absolutely correct.

Apologies for being late to reply again, and also for not including a suitable quoted excerpt to make my meaning clearer.

Phew - I thought it was aimed at me and re-read the email about 5 times wondering what I had missed!

Hopefully I will get a better response next week!

STILL waiting for a response! Starting to think I'll just put the extra money towards something else instead now!
