Guardian page freezing my PC

I read several news sources, but just lately the Guardian is driving me mad. I just have one browser window open at the moment and using MSE is relatively quick and glitch free - great:)
However, trying to comment and even browse articles on the Guardian is - well frustrating beyond belief, with pages freezing and sometimes an inability to type in comments.
Is there a reason for this?

Cheers for that, I have just been reading about them, and the prevalence of "maladverts" which are another way of loading malware when you click on otherwise innocent sites - or so you think.

I meant do you have any ad blocker software or host file installed, it can stop sites working fully

    also try another browser

    YUK .

Just had a look, and its one of those horrible java filled pages that stops you mid-scroll while it populates another pointless (advert) box on the page.

Programmers of sites like these should be shot. Or at the very least fired.

Use an adblocker OP, that'll learn them

Just fitted Adblock Plus for Mozilla and things have improved considerably.
    Cheers.

I use Adblock Plus but recently disabled it on the Guardian website due to their "we notice you are using an adblocker please support us" notices. Next time I visited their site it froze my PC. So I renabled my adblocker, and I now browse their website ad and guilt free. :D

I'm not sure exactly how they are checking for ad blockers but it certainly doesn't seem to work properly. I don't use adblock but I do run ghostery which blocks not only adverts but all manner of other tosh such as google analytics which slow things down too. Anyhow I just tried the Grauniad and it was all very smooth with no snidey messages about ad blockers.

Maybe the editorial staff haven't quite finished ringing their hands yet ;)
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.
