Self-Management Debt Plan Advice - Letter of Authority

Hello all I was wondering if you could help me.
I have recently started a self administered dmp following CAB's letters to print out and working out payments to my creditors.
Most creditors have been pretty good however HSBC have asked for a signed letter of authority before they act on my request of holding the interest and accepting a reduced payment.
What is a letter of authority?
Many thanks AQ

Hi,
They have probably got confused, bless them, they are assuming a 3rd party is acting on your behalf, and want your permission to communicate with them (you) !!
Go along with it, send a brief note saying :
Dear HSBC,
Thank you for your recent letter.
I hereby authorise (your name) to act on my behalf.
