Paying Class 2 NICS by Direct Debit

Hi there,
My husband and I are both self-employed and have been paying Class 2 NICs by Direct Debit for some years. I understood that the system was changing to one by which the NICs would be collected as part of the annual tax bill following submission of Tax Return. However, I notice from our bank statements that the direct debits are still going out. Is this correct? (I have no objection to NICs being paid by DD, but don't want to pay twice!).

The other slight worry is that the new system apparently gives automatic opt-out of Class 2 NICs for people with low earnings. I want to make sure that our Class 2 NICs continue to be paid, even if our earnings are low.

Do I need to notify HMRC of either of the matters above?

Thanks for your time.
