interview for work experience??

so the jobcentre are sending me for unpaid work experience at poundland.

I have now been told I have to have a interview!!

anyone know what questions they are likely to ask? will it be like a normal job interview?

    Do turn up for the interview if you don't want the hassle of going through appeals. Just make sure you fail the interview.

    Stutter when you talk.

    Dress like a chav.

    If asked why you want the job say you have nothing else to do with your time.

    If asked what your strengths are, say you have high tolerance for alcohol. Employers don't like alcohol addicts.

    Say your weakness is you're sometimes late but will try your best to make it on time.

    If asked to give an example of team work, look blank and think for a moment and then ask the employer "um... can you ask me a different question?"

    At the end of the interview say thanks for your time bro. Make sure you use the word 'bro'.

    If you get negative feedback, the employer saying to the JSA advisor you're deliberately failing the interview, just say you tried your best. Also pretend you don't have money to buy a suit so dressed casually. Blame it on nerves.

    Be very subtle about it though. Purposely messing up an interview can also lead to a sanction.

    Yeah I wouldn't be as obvious as that post!

    I can't believe they're still trying to get people to work for free in Poundland after that court judgement.

    I would ask at the interview - why are you asking people to work for free, I would happily work here if I was getting paid. Or what do you expect from me as a volunteer/unpaid worker - do I need to do the same as your paid workers?

    ALSO if you find your own work like volunteering somewhere that interests you, then you dont have to do a jc issued placement.

    seems fair to me as long as you're doing SOMETHING.

    School work experience is different, it's 14/15 year olds who work for 2 weeks to get know what a work environment is like. The staff don't expect the individual to be the same as the actual staff, they know they will be slower at the job since they're new.

    It's also straight up 2 weeks then you're done not 'at the end of the few months we may offer you a paid position' - it's not tricking people into thinking this is how you get work.

    I don't see how working 40 hours in a pound shop for a weeks/months for free will benefit anyone, except the store in question. My first job involved a small trial/training - about 2 hours working in the shop, that was it. If the staff want to see what the person is like in a work environment maybe half a day's (paid) work will tell them not slave labour for up to 3 months.

    Is it fair on all the people they don't employ because of the pool of unpaid labour they can tap? is it fair on people in other stores who get sacked because they have been undercut by businesses using unpaid labour?

    But no, the most important thing is that nobody gets money without being made to work like a dog for it, so you can feel superior.
  • Ask them if they really want someone to fill the post, why not offer you a real living wage.

    If the person in question is on Universal Credit, will they still be expected to look for work for 35hrs a week, on top of the free labour they are giving?
  • Now don't forget to wear the baseball cap! :D

    Just tell them you are relient on buses (make out you feel you live so far away) and ask about time off as soon as you get in there as you've not afforded much to eat (although I can appreciate this borders on the truth)

    Tell them you intend to take out a payday loan to get to "work" employers or their sort hate hearing this if truth were known - I have a very generous boss who brought breakie for me when working the weekend, no reason why you shouldn't have this to.
