Being a victim of theft!

Oh my god I feel absolutely sick - I invited a company into my home to measure up for a job they are doing for us and the representative they sent has stolen my mobile phone  . I feel absolutely horrified that somebody would do such an obvious thing. I used it, put it on the side in my bedroom, he came to the house and 5 minutes after he had gone, I went to get the phone and it had gone. I phoned to ask him if he had picked it up accidentally and he said no. Orange have confirmed that about 3 hours after he left my house he used all the remaining credit (as it was PAYG) and has since taken my sim card out and put a new one in. And to top it all off - Data Protection Act means they won't tell me who now has my phone.
Luckily, the police are now investigating as he was the only visitor to my home and the trail is apparently very clear so they should be able to get a result.
I work bloomin hard to try and pay my debts off, have no bloomin luxuries really, use a 2nd hand PAYG phone and the cheeky bar steward nicks it!
WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?!
Sorry rant over - I just feel really shaky and my heart seems to be beating really fast!

I can't offer any advice, I'm sorry., but huge hugs to you. I remember when someone stole something out of our car, it is a horrible feeling. It must be a hundred times worse for you, having invited this person into your home. But how stoopid is this guy, surely the police can track him using a mobile phone. I hope you can sleep tonight. He will get his cumuppence!!!!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member # 593 - Proud To Be Dealing With My Debts!0

I am surprised that he found time to pinch it as I was upstairs keeping my little one out of mischief while he was trying to do his job. My jewellery box was on the side next to my phone but I had a bowl with glass pebbles in on top of my jewellery box which he would have had to move to get in to it and he wouldn't have had chance or time to go for that.
Even now, I sit here and can't believe it.
We're going to the company tomorrow to sit down with them and tell them so far what has happened because as far as we know, this guy works for them and they have no idea. He would possibly be visiting people all the time to measure up so they need to know if he is not trustworthy. We also want our money back as we have already paid for the item and no longer want them in our house

Cant believe that someone could do something so easily traced!!
I would feel sick too.
I also feel that the company should compensate you as he was their agent & probably wouldnt want any bad publicity.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -
It's upsetting when something like that happens. It's lucky nothing else was taken. But it seems like it should be easily traceable through the company, so what a stupid thing to do! Did he think you wouldn't notice? Surely he will lose his job now, so it seems such a pointless crime.

When they (police) catch up with this peice of !!!!!! tell them that you want him prosocuted that way he will get a criminal record which he would have to declare to future employers - I imagine he has probably done this thing before. I do so worry about the future.
Let us know how you get on at his company0
