Lillibet - Sainsbury's do their own range of Cooks Collection tins. They have a medium roasting tin, which is not too heavy at all! I use it allot for roasting a whole chicken in and I can get the roast potatoes around it as well! Have a look - they very often have really good offers on those especially after Christmas!
If you are worried about the scrubbing and cleaning, then take my Mum's oldest tip, boil a kettle full of water, put a mug full of biological washing powder into the roasting tray pour in the boiling water and leave it for about an hour. Mimimum scrubbing required and a good rinse you are good to go! Buy the cheapest Tesco or Sainsbury's basics washing powder for this and it's a doddle! Only really works with biologcal power!Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money:beer:

On the subect of Masterchef - I'm currently watching Masterchef The Professionals (and I'm sure the winner of the 'ordinary' version in 2014 - the fabulous Ping - could teach these guys more than a thing or 2) - and one chef last week and 2 chefs this week have used honeycomb in savoury dishes.
Where on earth has this idea come from?
I texted my friend and said 'The only place honeycomb belongs is in the middle of a crunchie!' :rotfl:
Neither Monica or Marcus (who's slowly growing on me after taking from from the lovely Michel Roux) rated it - and all 3 chefs were eliminated.0 -

I like this programme too. Marcus is my secret crush!!
I can't understand this honeycomb lark either. Must be the latest fad in London. I can't even imagine the taste of fish with honeycomb or duck with honeycomb!!:j[DFW Nerd club #1142 Proud to be dealing with my debt:TDMP start date April 2012. Too much being different just for the sake of it.
Did you see last night's episode? Hope this isn't a spolier for you but - who needs Gino D'Acampo when you've got Danilo. :T0 -
Daughter has just brought down (from her room!!) the remains of last night's McDonalds - as if my food isn't good enough!
Cue checking of packaging....
The cup for the cola has to go in the rubbih bin, the lid is recyclable as is, I presume, the straw.
The burger box and the chip wrapper plus the carry-out bag gone in recycling.
Checked McDonald website re their recycling policies. First, the 5p carry bag charge - apparently they deduct VAT from the 5p and then donate the rest to charity.
Their 'vision' for 2020 is to have the majority of their packaging 100% sustainable, renewable and recyclable. They have reduced the sizes of their burger cartons and the inner liners thus 'saving 434 tonnes of paper per year' (and reducing their costs no doubt).
I take all this with a pinch of salt - grand words cost nothing. Actions speak louder than words.....:j[DFW Nerd club #1142 Proud to be dealing with my debt:TDMP start date April 2012. Amount £21862:eek:April 2013 = £20414:T April 2014 = £11000 :TApril 2015 = £9500 :T April 2016 = £7200:T

I keep a box of biological washing powder to clean my kitchen sink (not supposed to bleach). Fill up sink with hot water and sprinkle powder in and leave an hour. No scrubbing required. Also use for burnt pans - boil up with washing powder if necessary. Works every time. Don't use for washing clothes.
Just had lunch of HM chicken and veg soup made from carcase of Lidl chicken, some HM stock and bottom of fridge veggies with a few herbs. Delicious and I know exactly what was in it.2025 Decluttering Campaign 682/2025 🏅🏅🏅🏅(🏅🏅) 🌟🌟

Perhaps some carrying needs could be served by a good old fashioned shopping basket? Say made from willow grown in the UK, a very sustainable crop. A basket can stand up to decades of use, such as the 1950s shopper I use on my allotment. And, when it's finally broken down, instead of a toxic item to fester in landfill, you have something which will decay slowly or can be burned and the ashes safely composted.
In celebration of my move away from teabags, I have treated myself to a sterling silver tea caddy spoon, from my birthday money. It's a beautiful item which will be absolutely joyous to use. It's already over 40 years old but you wouldn't know it to look at it. Tomorrow I will be in pursuit of the loose tea and will be keeping the teabags to use up at work.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

The idea of using fabric bags is that they can last years, especially if used with care and mended when they show wear and tear. in particular, bags like the Morsbags are made by reusing fabric from old sheets, curtains, quilt covers etc, which might otherwise be thrown away.
They don't have to be labelled "morsbags", the pattern can be used by anyone for free.
Even if these fabrics were recycled for, say, paper (do they still make paper using old rags? Not sure...), in this instances their life would be prolonged by potentially several years by the repurposing.
Good quality artists paper does still have cotton content.0 -
I have just finished a pack of parma ham. (Yes, next time, I'll get it sliced at the deli counter and put in my own container!).
Are those sheets of waxy paper they use to separate the slices recyclable? What are they made of?
Also, just coming to the end of cat food sachets (moving onto tins from now on). If I rinse them out are they recyclable?
Chocolate mousse pots?
Still waiting to hear back from Batchelors re their Smash packaging.:j[DFW Nerd club #1142 Proud to be dealing with my debt:TDMP start date April 2012. Amount £21862:eek:April 2013 = £20414:T April 2014 = £11000 :TApril 2015 = £9500 :T April 2016 = £7200:T
