Be 100% Certain that you'll be accepted before you apply

So, this is the new marketing ploy from Capital One. Why can't other providers follow?

Plus, they'll stand behind their answer

And, although I can't copy and paste their reply, they claim they stand behind their answer, subject to you not being on a blacklist (like CIFAS, I presume) and that they can verify your identity. I presume that if you apply, and are still rejected, then you have a good chance of appealing for the hard search to be removed.

Interesting that other 'poor' credit providers, couldn't do this, or even main stream providers. I presume it would be quite useful in reducing the amount of manual underwriting and hard-credit searches.

Just disappointing that some other reward card providers can't follow suit. I guess though, Capital One had to do something, with the amount of people leaving them after axing card rewards.

Why can you not copy&paste? Combined with your link not working, this makes your thread pretty much senseless.

Many providers do send 'pre-approved' offers, mainly to existing customers.

    Here, https://www.capitalone.co.uk/creditcards/secure/find-my-card.jsf:
Capital One QuickCheck gives you the certainty you want when applying for a credit card.

Just enter a few details below to get a yes or no BEFORE applying.
    'NO HARM' CREDIT SEARCH EXPLAINED.

We think it's responsible to tell you whether you will be approved for a card before you apply. By working with credit reference agencies we do a pre-application check of your credit rating using QuickCheck.

You'll be able to see the search on your file, but it won't show up to other organisations. This means there is no impact to your credit rating.
    Apply with confidence

If you decide to apply for a card you can apply with confidence knowing you will be accepted, at which point we do a visible update to the credit reference agencies to let them know you asked us for credit.

We stand behind our answer and confirm that we've carried out all the appropriate credit checks we need. However, there is a small chance that we may be unable to open your account if we identify certain information on fraud prevention databases or if we are not able to verify your identity.

They don't guarantee a specific card (although Capital One only appears to offer two at the moment).

I guess punters who are promised a card but fail a full credit check will be offered a Classic card with a £200 limit. Or, perhaps, a Secured Card - give us £200 and we'll give you a card with a £200 limit.
  • How can you be 100% certain you will be accepted, what absolute trash from CO.
