    Oh happy birthday!:T:A

I can't forget - I may even remember next time:D:rotfl::eek::rotfl::rotfl: - gotta get those cake portions exactly identical! - short shop tonight though for me - I'm glad I've managed to find that out before midnight I really am:D - wouldn't want to miss it!;):) - hope you're having a good birthday - and, everyone, I'll see you later:wave:.:A

I wonder what DS2 bought you. Always a difficulty() thinking of something appropriate to buy - I just haven't got a clue:rotfl::rotfl:!:o It can be fun:D:D:rotfl::cool:. (We end probably just getting the same bland, boring item we always buy, so as to stay safe when, really, something really nice and flashy would be more appropriate. But we just haven't got that flair or daringness or ability to detect any subtle hints so instead we go with the safe but... "that's what you always get me!":(:rotfl:)

    since you asked :p

DS2 bought me nothing. He has no concept of money or gifts or anything. And that's fine

We do however stick by the tradition of birthday candle blowing out in our house. And making a wish. I did this earlier tonight. there also seems to be trend to guess what the candle blower has wished for evolving as part of the tradition.

I blew my candles out and DS2 came right in with 'I guess you wished that you aren't going to die mum'

The tradition also extends to not revealing whether anyone guessed your wish right ;)

I will admit to having had a terrible week. Test results not coming back as I'd have hoped them to and a few desperate drama queen moments. All helped and put in perspective with a meeting with Squigs on Friday. technically the world should be a better place because we put it to rights :D

I also have friendly moles working on the inside to keep me balanced ;)

That's the point I was making. But not specifically about him (hence my very technical lack of highlight for the "He has" part of that sentence). To be fair, at that age, I'd probably have bought nothing as well. But certainly not because I didn't mean to or because I didn't love you (as my mother in that situation) - maybe I'd just express in a different way and it being a given constant and not specifically something confined to one day. With me, it's love 365 and about a quarter (or 366 and about a quarter in a leap year). And also the problem I mentioned about not knowing, or being able to work out, what to get. Not his problem but, to some extent, mine too. It's certainly not forgotten about - I am very good with dates and numbers (except when my maths on here proves to be rubbish:o:rotfl:) and my memory is excellent (sometimes, on rare occasions, it even gives people the creeps:eek: that I remember things but it's certainly not intended to and it's certainly nothing sinister - I couldn't double-cross even if I wished (and I don't wish)). I do get birthday (and Christmas) presents, and cards, although there's also some birthdays more now where I don't bother. But certainly nothing meant - we'd just end up passing money back and forth between each other. Nothing to buy, they've already got it - I'll get the wrong thing (shape, size, whatever) anyway and, at the end of the day, sometimes it's simply just spending money. On something that, tbh, they don't really like (sometimes I presume!) and end up taking back. We've already got things - we don't need other things and, to some extent, I don't see the point of cards - because all they are is a piece of card or paper on which you are spending money and, in some sense, totally unnecessary - perhaps the tradition should even be challenged and abolished:rotfl::rotfl:. What's the use of it really, from the rational sense? Those e-cards as well - why pay people for something you can simply pull up a Word document and write "Happy birthday" and send that as an attachment yourself? There, done. Didn't cost anything much at all - and any money for cards is being paid to an outside organisation and not the person you love. So, maybe, I can witter on about the largely unchallenged tradition of card-sending now:rotfl::rotfl:. Anyway, I don't suggest it's wrong - I've nothing against wishing people happy birthday.

I'll stay here all night if I'm not careful:eek::rotfl::rotfl::D.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:You have to laugh though, don't you? And I hope you did.

At the end of the day... we're all dead. Whether it's sooner or, hopefully, somewhat later. And that's the best way to look at it. Just make the best of what we have got and the best of the time that we have whilst we are here to do so. Everyone.
