Can someone purely on benefits get a mortage for a council flAT?

Can a person who is not disabled ,doesn't work and is wholly reliant on benefits (State Pension aside) also get a mortgage?. ......
Be interesting to see who pays for all the on going maintenance costs including repairs,decoration the communal areas etc.0 -

Is it wise to buy a flat on benefits knowing that you will be liable for any freeholder requests for repairs to the building as well on going maintenance issues such as a new boiler e.t.c
Your income won't go up and will more likely go down. Have you thought this through and done the sums?"It is prudent when shopping for something important, not to limit yourself to Pound land/Estate Agents"

Mortgage regulations changed this year and are much more stringent, they wish to know all about your spending habits.
No-one is granted a mortgage with out a deposit these days so less you have that sorted you've no chance and it's highly unlikely you'll find a high street lender will to provide a mortgage.
I say this a question for an experienced mortgage broker but unlikely I'd say.0
