Bankruptcy Fees 2007 - no increase

Evening All!

We had notification of the new county court fee rises for 2007 today.

Ive had a quick look at them and insolvency fees are to remain the same -£150.00 for debtors petition and £60.00 for a certificate of discharge.

The only fee that will increase is the photocopying charge for extra copies of documents and this is rising to £5 for 10 pages. so keep your original copies safe!

Please note, the Insolvency Service set their own fees for the deposit and so far we have had no notification that they are to rise.

The fee changes are from 01 October 2007.

Just thought id let you know x

You are discharged for free. :D

If for some reason you require a formal certificate, then this is when you need to pay the £60.

You might need one for awkward creditors who refuse to update your Credit Reference Files without one, and people say some mortgage lenders require one. But in general you don't need one, and you are just as 'discharged' without.

No you only have to pay £60.00 for a certificate of your discharge. Some people find they need them in the future for mortgages etc. The OR will send a letter for your discharge but this may not be enough for some lenders. Others just like to have one for their own records. x

And I think someone posted here that if you are on benefits the £60 is waived?

The rules surrounding the automatic exemption are changing as well but havent really read up on it yet. I got the impression that lower incomes would be automatic as well as benefits.

Ill update when ive read through properly. x
