  • I know how you feel about the drowning. I feel like I'm drowning constantly. But it's the plan that means one day, in a few (5) years time. I wont be drowning anymore. The plan is the lifeline.

Sorry you hit the neighbours car, but its a one off blip. Better a one off blip, than a constant undercurrent. My recent blip came in the case of having to get new furniture to help with my wife's poorly back. It was a no brainer, health comes first, but a blip in my finances. But this month, that blip isnt there anymore. Don't worry too much about one offs.
  • Your not the only that feels like this

I only joined a few days ago with the same feeling, had no idea where to start was feeling really depressed over debts ect.

But this forum has already gave me so much useful information and help and support so stick at it.

How bad is the damage to the neighbors car?

    Thanks
    Scott
  • Hey Krakra,

You are not the only one to feel like this. We all have times when the world seems overwhelming.

You will get through this. Maybe have a cup of tea and list three small things you can do to get back some control.

Could you get someone else to help you explain to the neighbour about the car? Say that it was an accident, that you are sorry and that it will be fixed.

I've found that by doing something small, and ticking it off a short list, my feelings of control and confidence grow. Try going for a walk or doing one load of laundry (wash the stress out of your life). Exercise might help.

    Hugs to you, xxx

thanks , tbh knowing that others feel or have felt the same has made me feel a little better
i have been aware of my problems but have been burying my head in the sand for far too long,

i not sure how much damage i did to their car there is a dent in it but not sure if that was there already as its a old car but nether the less it still could be his pride and joy so will have to speak to him tonight as he wasn't in this morning, thankfully just a scuff on my car but the fear of needing to pay out insurance excess which is money i don't have just fills me with dread

its just like a never ending cycle

Great advice from Playing with Fire. Debts can feel scary enough without car accidents on top. You know that burying your head in the sand only prolongs the day you have to act, or you wouldn't be on here. It's the not being in control which is the worst thing. So I second the advice to sit calmly for a while & write down just a few first steps you can take TODAY to take control. One will be to talk to your neighbour. Two could be to find your insurance docs so that any claim, while definitely unwanted, at least proceeds smoothly, I can't suggest a three & four as I don't know your situation, but if it's lots of debt you've been ignoring, a first step might just be to gather all the relevant paperwork together. Perhaps you might want to post an SOA on here where there are lots of people who are brilliant at sporting ideas for savings. If you are feeling really low & cross with yourself for getting into a mess with money, I can guarantee you will start to feel better when you have made a positive & practical start on sorting things out. We've all been there. From personal experience I can assure you that straightening out my finances & becoming debt-free after 2 decades of head in sand has been life-changing.
Start with small steps but START TODAY! Good luck.

Remember....if you have to put it on a credit card, extend your overdraft or take out a loan to buy whatever it is, you probably can't afford it, as that's not your money, it's somebody else's!
