I just read an email from supposedly HM Revenue & customs advising me of a tax refund I have already claimed and have the cheque in my desk.the amount was suprisingly close which worries me.Also I do my return by paper.
Is this suspicious or me being too careful?
Who would I report it to?

It's a well known scam. HMRC don't email about tax refunds.0

HMRC haven't figured out how to use e-mails yet, so it is a scam. However, if a pigeon taps on your window to say he's from HMRC with a tax refund, let him in and feed him some seed as it could easily be the real deal.Hideous Muddles from Right Charlies0
