Competition finding software

Options
Hi

A chap who works in the same office as me is a comper and he told me that he had devised some software (being the clever chap he is) to hunt out new competitions which he then enters - I don't want to be cheeky to ask him for his secret, but wondered whether anyone would know of any similar type of software that can be used to hunt out new competitions is available to buy or download free?

So far, I have only being finding and entering competitions via websites such as Competitiors Companion or The Prizefinder etc and although I have entered litterally thousands of competitions, I have only had 1 (2nd prize) win of any value in 3 - 4 years of entering competitions..

Thanks for any advice

Mike

    Like a bot? ;) I joke, I joke!

Does he enter the comps he finds manually himself or does the software enter on his behalf, may I ask?

Unfortunately, I don't know of any software that hunts and picks out competitions, either paid or otherwise. I actually like going through the MSE comps board to look for comps. I think using software would take a bit of the fun out of it for me. :)

  • Hi Lady Mortitia

    Thanks for your reply.

I spoke to him again today and it seems that he actually bought the software from somewhere - but wouldn't tell me where or what it was called?

I think it runs a program that finds new competitions and he can collectively enter enmasse as such - saving him time and much effort.

As he said, it's all down to the quantity of entries that increases the win percentages - hence his (very) successful winning ratio to date

So somewhere out there is a software package that potentially, could be the answer to my dreams ;)

    Best regards

Quantity of entries can increase win totals but it does not increase win percentages and is likely to produce a low winning ratio compared to entering effort competitions and concentrating on quality.

There are sites that you can pay to enter competitions for you. Personally, I wouldn't do this, as this is a hobby to me and as advised above, you could be disqualified. This is one of many such sites.

If his method is discovered by competition hosts then he will no doubt be disqualified.

been thinking about this & realised he wouldn't be able to enter ones where you have to sign in , ones with captcha & ones with answers anyway & most of the comps I enter have at least one of those

  • I agree, i think that kind of takes the fun away, i too enjoy looking through the boards for them etc.
  • Many thanks to all who replied to this thread - it's appreciated.

I think he actually uses some sort of a search program to seek out new competitions (not sure if it automatically enters him or not - it's more probable that he just finds the comps then enters them manually).

The impression I got was that his program searches the internet via Google for competitions that are not widely advertised and not on the usual competition websites such as The Prizefinder or Competitors Companion etc and when he gets the list back he then spends time entering them - but I think the key here is they are not widely advertised competitions and it's those he seems to be successful with.

That's why I wondered if there were programs available that would search on something like 'key words' and would compile a list for you to enter?

Thanks to all for your help

    Mike
