Hi All,

Where are people's preferred bars and clubs around Belfast? I don't really go out very much in Belfast but would like to venture in the coming weeks so thought I'd get some ideas.

Thanks

  • The dirty onion in the cathedral quarters is a great and popular pub. The potted hen, is a lovely place to eat around there too. Other pubs in Belfast are the Albany which is really nice.
  • The Potted Hen has closed down. Noticed it the other day - seems it closed abruptly about 3 weeks ago.

To carry on this theme I'm looking for a couple of good eating places in or around Belfast. Staying over for a couple of nights next month for a bit of Christmas shopping and need good recommendations for a couple of good eateries. Any ideas? Looking for nice ambience and good reasonable food. Been in the Dirty Duck before at Holywood but menu doesnt really suit OH but I loved it. Staying Fri and Sat night but on Sat night need something a bit earlier as I'm going to see Mrs Brown.
I started out with nothing......And still have most of it left:p

We love Salt bistro in Cathedral Quarter. It's compact but food is excellent.

Howard Street and Hadskis are supposed to be good too

James Street South and Deanes Meat Locker are excellent- theyre expensive but not if you go for the pre-theatre menu- less than £20 for 3 courses.
There may not be pre-theatre in December though

I like the food in McCrackens, 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £30, they normally have a good quality guest beer for a good price for the non wine drinkers. Not sure if that's on over Xmas period though.
