Solar PV quote

Hi,
I am new to all of this and like many I guess, rushing to get installed and up and running by the year end.
I have a first quote for £6300 incl VAT for a 14 panel 285w system using JA Solar panels.
Looking at the quotes here it is on the expensive side compared to what others are getting. My roof is South facing and has no shade.
I live in South Yorkshire so I would appreciate if anyone could recommend an installer they've used and trust.
Many thanks.

My system was 14 JA Solar panels with Solis inverter and was 5700 down here in the expensive south, so I would say yours is to high.Living in supposedly sunny Kent

In expensive Herts I currently have a quote of 4.5k for 14 265w panels but hope to beat that.I think....0

I have just had a 4kw system installed consisting of 16 x Solarworld 250 Panels in Black and an AFORE Inverter plus GEO Meter and scaffolding eitherside to fit 8 panels on each in an East / West facing roof to follow the new findings of a Solar Expert in Germany who now believes that most are pointing in the wrong direction?
Mine also include Bird Protection from Nesting under the Panels which is something you should consider!
Price was £6400 and installed 3 days ago....
Important - Taking the advice of MSE and pay using a 0% on Purchases Credit Card, I used an MBNA Allrounder Card but there are many others out there.0 -
Something very important to consider!
With the Government cuts soon to the Feed In Tariff I personally believe that people won't bother with Solar Panels anymore as it would not be cost effective unless you really want to be Green, and that said may put a lot of these Companies out of business.
Therefore I would personally make sure that you have an Insurance Backed Guarantee with details of who to contact in the event of a system failure since the company I used 'My Planet' may cease to trade?0
