I was very sad to hear that Shirley Goode had passed away last week. She published several books about money saving and also appeared on TV. There is quite a bit about her on the internet and you can still get her books from Amazon.
She really was an amazing lady, well ahead of her time in the money saving stakes. One of her favourite sayings was 'waste no want not'.

I am very sad to hear this news. I enjoyed her books, TV show, and recently her blog, very much, and she seemed like a lovely lady. She was very much head of her time, encouraging us to plan ahead and use everything up, long before it was fashionable.
I dont normally use recipe books much, but I actually wore hers out!0 -
I am very sad to hear that Shirley has died. I have one of her books and loved her TV programmes. She saved me loads of money when my children were small and I was trying to make ends meet. RIP Shirley Goode.0

A big loss. She was a great inspiration to me when I first "went" OS.Angie - GC April 25: £491.86/£500 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 21/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0

Saddened to here the news Shirley has passed away
I loved her books and tv programme
I remember one tip of making up a box cake mix
That were popular years ago
just make in one tin, spread with jam ,cut in half
Then place on top of the other half
So you had a half moon shape cake
Lovely lady saved me a lot.”Pour yourself a drink, (tea for me now)
Put on some lipstick
and pull yourself together”

Another who enjoyed her books, still have 3 and use one or another most weeks. Recipes copied down by dgc and , no doubt, will be used for the newest dggc in the family.
Her advice is as relevant today as when she was on tv and her books published.
