I have been on a DMP for 18 months. i have not had any problem getting home insurance and have recently renewed for the next year.

To earn a few pennies I have been doing some mystery shopping and one task was to ring up for home insurance quotes. i had to do this for 6 companies. No problems getting quotes except the 6th company said they couldnt provide me with a quote and couldnt say why.

I am thinking maybe it is the DMP but will this now affect me next year when I need actual quotes for home insurance as i will have to declare I have been declined for insurance previously?

You have not been declined insurance, all it said was they were unable to quote, that is not the same as been declined.

I wouldn't worry about it, it's quiet common for some companies to be unable to issue you with a quote, it was the same most times I looked to get car, bike, or home insurance.

All it means is you don't fit there criteria, it has nothing to do with anything else.

Your over thinking this, just forget about it and move on.

  • As Sourcrates says above, you haven't been declined insurance.

Whenever you go on a price comparison site for insurance, you will always find that lots of companies cannot, or will not, offer a quote for your requirements. It could be, for example, that they won't give a quote for selected postcodes, certain ages of drivers, method of construction of a home, etc, etc.

You have nothing to worry about.
