Did you try using the credit card eligibility checkers before applying for the Aqua card?

Given the eye-watering interest rates offered by Provident I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy let alone a friend. I also wouldn't recommend getting into debt for Christmas but if you are hell bent on spending money you don't have on presents people don't need then try and do it at cheaply as possible.

You seem to be new credit so have a read at some of the guides about loans and credit cards on the MSE website. Then you should be better placed to make an informed decision that's right for you.

You can do it cheaply by having a max spending limit for gifts per person and stick to the limit.

The ARP will indicate which will be the cheapest. That appears to vary, depending on how much you borrow, with Provident and Morse Club. Your Capital One credit card APR will remain the same however much your borrow.

However Provident and Morse Club don't charge late payment fees, whereas Capital One does.

Using a credit card to buy things gives addition protection if something goes wrong with the purchase or item.

Working out which is "cheaper or better" depends on several factors.

If you're going to miss payments or want to borrow more than your Capital One limit (£200) Provident or Morse Club might be the answer.

Otherwise Capital One might be the way to go.

Or head over to the Debt Free Wanabee board and get help with your finances.

Much better than using Provident, Morse or Capital One (unless you're paying CapOne off in full every month.)
  • If you dont have funds/savings for xmas then dont get anyone presents, and dont spend beyond what youve got.

Here is a secret tip, on 25th Dec 2016 its Christmas day AGAIN!!
  • If you can afford to get a loan and make payments before Christmas then wouldnt it be better to buy the presents each week ..maybe only buy for your nearest and dearest I am sure people will understand that you can not afford to splash out this year Provident repayments are expensive and last longer than Christmas does .
