Amazon Prime £7.99 a month?

I was just offered Amazon Prime at a cost of a monthly membership of £7.99 which I can stop whenever I want? Has anyone else been offered the same deal as I can't find it being mentioned anywhere else. All I can find is the £79 for a year.
Update - I've now been on the billing page for Amazon Prime, and sure enough I am paying £7.99 a month. It is trying to encourage me to sign up for a year so that I save the £16.88 if I just pay £79 up front. But I plan on just keeping it for my Christmas shopping, watching all the Outlander series and then cancelling it come the New Year. Hurray.
