Smart tv for Christmas present

Hi I am looking to buy my son a smart tv for Xmas. I have seen a couple at a reasonable price (£130ish) but don't necessarily do everything I think he would like - basic ones only have iplayer and YouTube. Ideally I'd like on that also has itv player and 4od etc however these tend to be more like £180. My question is essentially is it worth waiting to see if the More expensive ones come down closer to the big day, go for the cheaper one or bite the bullet and pay the extra? Any advice greatly received 😀

My advice is its better to get a tv with separate smart option like a nowtv box,, roku stick or the many other options. I have a smarttv and streaming stick and the streaming stick is much better and potential easier to ben updated or replaced than a tv than maybe 3 years time wont be supported.
  • With the box or stick can he access the other apps? I thought they were like an advanced version of freeview but not quite sky if that makes sense!
