What does this mean?

Options
I had an email from Currys PC world:

Congratulations! Thank you for entering our Christmas promotion. We want to try and help you get what you really want this Christmas by passing on your hint to your partner, friend, family member or loved one.

It will be live on 11th November 2015 at Sidwell Street and Main Road, Exeter, between the hours of 6am-10am and 4pm-8pm, so let them know to keep their eyes peeled.

Good luck!

What is that supposed to mean? Did everyone who entered that comp get a similar message, or have I been singled out? Is someone meant to go there before I'm eligible for a prize or what?

I was just going to link to the post on IWIWIW but it looks like you've seen that already!
the way I read it is, some of the entries (hints) will be picked to be "displayed" in public; and after the closing date of 9th Dec, 50 entrants will also be picked to win gift cards. I am not sure whether there is necessarily any crossover or connection between having your hint displayed and winning a gift card though :undecided

As posted on the other thread, in your case it is somewhere in Exeter not charing cross - you/someone going there has nothing to do with winning or not
You gave the details of someone you wanted to drop a hint to about what to get you for Christmas - presumably you indicated they could be contacted at charing cross station.

At the date/time they have said the name of the person you choose to send a hint to will be displayed along with your hint to them and your name as well.

The idea being the person you want to drop a hint to sees the message and goes and buys you what you want.
  • Exactly. Has nothing to do with the competition itself and is not anything to do with a prize

    Oh. How depressing. :-(
  • Talk about a misleading sort of email. One for the recycle bin.

Not really, you wanted to drop someone a hint about what you wanted for Christmas, told Currys PC World about it and they are dropping the hint for you, all you need to do is make sure the person is in a position to see the hint.

Secondary to that you were entered into a draw to win a £50 voucher but the main thing is getting what you want for Christmas from the person you selected.

If you're not lucky enough to be selected*, you could still win a £50 voucher.

    *To have your hint displayed
